If it was me, I would try to collect the missing wiper door and grille pieces. The car would have more appeal and value with them. Besides, it is so cool to show someone the true, disappearing wipers! Lou.

The hood? Looks like 77-79.

80-82 has a completely different contour:

It can't be one of those years! That would mean that the guy lied to me, now I don't know what I'll do. I agree, I looked at a lot of pictures in hopes of proving you wrong and all I did was proe you right. I can see where the windshield end of the hood is made different. I think I can come up with somthing that will either move the wiper door electrically or modify the door in some way to make it work without all of the vacuum stuff. Thank you for the correct information about the hood.

Looks like an aftermarket log hood designed for the 68-72 cars. Meets too well at the fender tops to be a stock GM long hood.

Not necessarily. The PO may have been only telling you what he/she was told about the hood.

The fit is reasonably good.

I agree with Mike, it could easily be a custom hood or a hood that's been modified for fit. The "bulge" is clearly closest to 77-79.

I dont think he lied either. There's no upside to saying its an 81 when it could be a 79 or even an aftermarket. Ones not really worth more than the other, he just didn't know what it was.

My personal opinion would be to get the wiper door working, even if you take the override/manual route. You have a chrome bumper car! Why make it look LESS chrome bumper? Using the chrome bumper features is always the best choice in my view.

All the needed parts are available from the various vendors or through fleabay. When you break it all down I think restoring the wiper door to proper operation is the way to go.

Yes, no reason to lie just stateing what i was told. I agree that the wiper door would be way cool to have on the car. I would definatley look into using electric actuators of some type instaed of putting all the hoses and things back together since I do not have any of the components except the wiper door. I mean I dont have any of the stuff, it was all removed before I got the car. If you look at the Paragon catalog I would have to buy every single piece except the wiper door. Thank you for all the imput about the hood.
