For the cross member
I used a set of chisels on either side of the sombrero's (leave the bolts in a few turns so it doesn't fall
Many people have had luck with 2 and 3 jaw gear pullers

The ball joints will need to have the rivets cut or drilled

Can't answer the steering ?

for the crossmember, put a block of wood on top as close to the end as you can get it and pound on it with a 3lb sledge hammer... the wood will prevent the hammer from denting the crossmember and it will let go.

use a chisel to cut the rivets on the ball joint.

on the steering, keep everything except the old steering box, the control valve and the cylinder... basically just discard anything with a hose attached to it.
you will reuse the pitman arm, center link and the tie rod assy's... of course you will need new tie rod ends and idler arm.

Maybe it's like a Rolix watch, or some of those Calvin Clain clothes you can buy at the flea-markets

It's Borgeson. It is a replacement for the power steering system used in C3's. The C3 system uses a manual steering gear (box) and the "power" steering is provided by a hydraulic ram that is connected to the drag link and the frame.

The Borgeson box has the "power" steering built into the steering gear like most other power steering systems. It eliminates the hydraulic ram which tends to leak in these old cars.

Thanks, I haven't been on the C3 forums in quite a while and had not heard of this Steering upgrade.

yeah i did that, it too me 5 mins, lol . Been looking at it for a 1 week.

Thanks for that pic of the box, a pic is a 1000 words .

I grinded of the a arm rivits. But i need to go down the hardware shop to buy a punch, ot punch then out.

Also a side note about the por -15. I already have the 2 paints. After sand blasting ( which i am paying someone to do it), how long would be the max safe time till paint before rusting, 2 days? Also should i buy any of that cleaning stuff, since i dont know who handles it and how, when sand blasting.

For the Bogeson, you'll reuse everything EXCEPT: the stock gearbox, control valve, piston, and the 4 hoses.

slowly getting there.

My car is a hobby. I only work on it when i want to, dont want it to be a chore. ( I start work varies 2 to 4 am so tired some days.)

Disclaimer aside .

One more thing to do before a pay some to sandblast it in the new year.

Steering disassembled.

The ball joints i drilled and punched out. The bar on the other side, i torched out the rubber. Easy job.

Now the question:

Where my finder is can i just hammer that out.

Also while bashing and drilling out the ball joint this fell out. I know where it came from, just hope the other come of easy.

I look at it and asume what i need to do, but i dont want to bend or brake something.

Hammer from inside to out ?
