ok, Question #1.
On the passenger side of the engine bay, look just below the front of the head where it meets the block ( front meaning side closest to front end of the car and the width side of the head). Should be a pad on the block. If it is painted for whatever reason, do not scrape it off or use abrasive, use a mild paint remover carefully. If you can read it, it will have the number sequence of your VIN on one side and the build date and engine code on the other. The build date should pre date the build date of you car. For example, on my 68 it reads "V0501HT" (V=Flint, 0501 is May 1st, and HT is 327/350 hp no AC). My car was built in May. The other side has a portion of my VIN. If you numbers match you car, and since it is a 76 (I doubt there are many fake restamps on 76 cars....but who knows), you most likely have a numbers matching engine at least. If not, the engine was replaced.

Also, I have no idea on question #2

Question #3. The "putty" color (kinda redish brown?) is most likely factory primer.

Hope that helps!

Question #2 rubber fuel line-
There will be 1 piece of 3/8 on the intake side of the pump- this one should be the proper hose- it has an "S" bend and normal hose will kink and shut you off. On the fuel pump, there is also a return hose that goes to the frame also. Don't recall what size it is. maybe 5/16?
There will also be a couple more in the rear from the tank to the frame hard line.
From the fuel pump to the carb should be all steel line- no rubber. Stock, the fuel filter is in the carb.

On the pad on the block at the front of the right head.

Factory fuel line from the pump to the carburetor is steel, not rubber. The line from the frame to the pump probably has a molded S hose. Both are available from the Corvette aftermarket providers.

Headlight override and light switch have vacuum. AC controls in the console have vacuum. Since you can hear it, you obviously have a vacuum leak you need to find.

All 76s had fiberglass tops from the factory. If you have glass, they are aftermarket or 78-82 optional glass tops fitted to your car.

Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM), the GM chassis service manual, and an owner's manual. You're going to want all three.

Congrats on the 76.
