In the process of doing a resto mod / frame swap. My frame was wasted and I came across a rolling chassis that was cleaned, painted, and had all new bushings and trailing arms done. It also came with some boxes of parts. In those boxes was the power steering pump, control valve, and ram that was still linked together with the hoses and filled with some fluid. They look to be in nice shape. ...the set off my old chassis are pretty rough, were obviously leaking, and covered in grease.
I removed the lines from the pump and tossed the valve and ram in my parts washer and cleaned them up. Is there a way to test them or tell if they need a rebuild? The "ball joints" move easily but do not seem to have any wiggle or play in the joint.
Any help on determining if they are good to go where I can bolt them to the chassis, or if a rebuild is required?

My 2c -- They are already off the car, I would go ahead and rebuild them...Rebuild kits are reasonably priced and the rebuild process is straightforward. If you don't paint them, you can rebuild both in an hour.
Absolutely!!! The rebuild kits for the control valve and ram (just the end-seal stack) are very inexpensive. And, since it is already out, you should re-seal the pump. SEARCH for Jim_Shea's steering component rebuilding papers. They will guide you on doing this work...it's not difficult stuff; you just need to be CLEAN and CAREFUL.
Replace the hoses if they are not really flexible or if the casings are starting to crack. These are the primary sources of most leaks. Buy a new pump drive belt and install them.
