A tribute to the C-3 and its ability to accept upgrades

Glad you liked the drive and look forward to hearing more about your future changes.

Great guy, great car, great combo.

Enjoy.

Last night I checked the T tops to see if I could improve my headroom.

The good news is that the under cover is easily removable. The is just 1 screw and the rest is some time of Velcro like plastic clamps.

The bad news is that at some point the plastic "velcro" was glued together and I probably will not be able to separate this without doing damage to either the the clamps of the T-top under cover.
Also upon close inspection, it seems that removing the under cover will leave a lot of protruding things exposed and look quite ugly and somewhat dangerous to the skull.

Of to the next solution.

Holy Cow David, I didn't use any glue on the T-Top covers so not sure how or where that came from. The velcro would/should have been enough to hold that in place so not sure why the glue would have been used. Those tabs are plastic and you could get inbetween them with a flat blunt object like a large screwdriver. Those Velcro peices are sold by several suppliers and they are rivited to the covers. I did replace them on my 71 Sparty, but not on the 77. I think you can get them off without damage though.

Any luck getting anyone to send you details of removing the lower rails? I think that would buy you at least three inches. Or maybe consider a later model seat, Ihear they are shaped differently and may be lower profile. Just ideas how to get your bum down lower.

Good luck David.

As I mentioned in another thread the previous owner of my car removed the rear mounting brackets from the tracks to gain head room perhaps an inch.

I know you said you weren't a fan DJ, but if you know someone who has a glass top you could set in place to compare headroom, you might be pleasantly suprised without any other mods.

I agree. with my old 2" bolsters and 31 yr old seats I fit fine in my 81 but last night put in new seat foams and new leather and now my head sticks up about 2-3" above the windshield but did have to crouch down a bit before with the TTOPs on. I think I will have to break them in now before I go tops on.

do you have more PICS of your car qwank?
like the wheels in your avatar. Same looks I was going for.
I was thinking black side pipes too since my inside is now flat black and my engine compartment.
maybe stinger hood as well with black satin stripe .
