Default Pace Car Jeff ?

Hello forum,
Not looking to start a bashing here.
I'd like to know if anyone has purchased a POA from above ebay seller?
If so how was your experience and were you satisfied with the part?
He has allot of positive feedback and 3 negatives.
Unfortunately, 1 of the neg's is for the same POA I'm interseted in
I contacted the buyer providing the neg feedback and he was unhappy
with the valve citing it was polished down to bare metal w/ no exterior cadium finish remaining and he detected metal particles inside the valve.
He also said he got a hard time from Jeff on the return and it was prorated vs a full refund.
This is the only neg for a POA.
Funny thing is he has sold many many other items all with positive feedback.
He has sold other POA's but no one has responded w/ feedback yet.
I'm on the fence about this 1
Responses and experiences welcome

Marshal,
Jeff is decent. Full retail pricing though from what I have seen. I think you might be better off looking around a bit. He does know his stuff when it come parts, but he also holds out for top end buyers and I guess you cannot blame him. Some guys have deep pockets. What is it you need??

Alan,
John is right AC stuff.
It is the valve that by passes the evaporator in the event the evap. begins to freeze up. Most systems have a thermostat, not C-3's.
Since the early systems ran the compressor constantly the evap. would freeze up so when the expansion valve bulb sensed the suction line temp rise it would bypass to POA and recirculate the gas around the evap. till the temp was in order than it would circulate through the evap again.
I know a very elementary explanation but that is how I understand it.
I'm reconditioning my AC over the winter and was inquiring about one.
I saw this pace car Jeff on eBay and wanted to know if he could be considered reliable. John, He is not cheap that's for sure.
The POA has been discontinued by GM since the 1980's.
The only way is to update with a modern unit ie... Vintage Air or equivalent replacement modern system or have old items rebuilt.
I did find a rebuild service for POA's via the internet.
The only thing I'm going against the grain on is the compressor. The newer compressors have much better re-circulation rates and weigh 1/3 of the old A-6's.
Mine may still work but the system was not circulating but remained under pressure so no leaks just needs a new expansion valve.
The desica bag in the drier either dissolved and clogged the expansion valve screen or the compressor came apart and shredded metal blocked the filter.
I won't know till I remove the expansion valve and inspect the screen.

I'd find another vender, may not be his fault, but prorated versus full refund for a used part is pretty lame

What exactly is "prorated?" I understand no shipping, or restocking fee, but what do we mean by prorated in this case?

Ive bought a couple things from him without issue, but Im not surprised he's not thrilled with giving refunds.

Prorated to be fair to all parties.
Buyer said he received $142.00 back on a $150.00 purchase.
Maybe you were right it was a restocking fee?
I'll look around some more for a POA as winter is upon us and I have
several months to get it assembled.

I remember that guy. There was nothing wrong with his POA - - he ordered the cheaper version "A" style, but needed the Corvette style "B".

Everything is full guaranteed and since he did not want to pay the difference between the POA he got.... and the one he wanted.
He just returned the valve. I made him pay for the freight-and as you can imagine, he was not happy about that -- this not my fault.

If he simply said he was unhappy, or the part was defective.... a full refund would have been given - no questions. I would have even paid for the return postage - happily

But he told me he wanted to exchange for the different version and he did not want to pay extra.
Over the years I have sold 100's of these POA's. never a problem.
I will work with any reasonable person to insure complete satisfaction...

but if your not reasonable about your request.....
