I've been lurking for a while gathering information before purchasing my first vette. I've decided that the 78-81 is the body style I desire. Prefer the L-82 and a 4sp is a must. Looking for an all original interior/paint/numbers matching car with less than 40K miles. My budget is 15K. This car, as best I can tell, has been for sale since 2008? My search on the forum is they have a good reputation except the ask for top dollar. I'm I being realistic in my search criteria and budget? Thanks in advance. Greg
there was a car for sale on the forum, that is a 80 silver, red 4-speed, frame off restored he was asking 13 for it. looks like a nice car. the guy is in wis.
I have a 78 numbers matching l82 4 speed that im almost finished restoring that im going to be selling for way less than that (im under your budget). Engine has been totally rebuilt, new clutch, entirely new brake system, etc. Its silver/black with a brand new oyster interior. I cut no corners ever and do things right the first time around. Let me know if you might be interested. It
Hi grb,
From the PICTURES it looks like the car hasn't been molested.
That's VERY attractive to a FEW buyers.
Thus the PRICE, and the period of TIME you think it's been for sale.

Alan
Hi Greg,
In your last post adding that you like original/unrestored cars makes me think that this is the type of car that you'd be interested in.
Some people want a 'rare' car, (originality is just one thing that may make a car rare), and are willing to pay for that.
FROM THE PICTURES it looks like this car is 'rare' because of it's completeness.
Many people who like an original car want it to have the original tires, exhaust, and maybe even the production line filters, belts, hoses, etc. still on it. Thus they're also looking for very low mile cars. This car may have had some of these things changed due to it's milage.
Might still be the car for you though.
Regards,
Alan
For that kind of money, the seller should be willing to have it NCRS judged and post the results.
Good Luck with your search. you are looking at the right time to buy.
The later model Vettes have been getting a lot of attention due to the rising prices of the earlier chrome bumper cars.
Go to a Mecum auction. (look them up online)
You will be amazed at what is selling and what it sells for. Spend a grand to find the perfect car for you and you will save tenfold that making the car you settle for the way you want it.
