Default Locating 427/390 engine's car owner.

I have a 1969 427/390 from a Corvette. I would like to see if I can locate the owner of the car to see if he/she is interested in buying it before I try some other venues to sell.

The block stampings are;

T1212LM 19S711394

The cars VIN should be; 194679S711394 convertible
194379S711394. Coupe

I did square/zero/blueprint deck the block during the machining process, but I did not cut the original numbers off. I do this often on numbers matching blocks. Every other date code on the engine is correct. I have documentation of the whole disassembly/machining and build.

Appears to be for a 4 speed car by the code. I have the original flywheel, distributor, fuel pump, water pump etc. Virtually everything but the carb.

It is a now completely rebuilt, and I may even Dyno it within the next few weeks if I can find the time.

I'm not real "up" on how to locate cars by VIN numbers and it seem this is the best place to start.

I did run an ad in the NCRS Driveline with no avail.

Thanks for any help!

Ron

There is no way to locate the cars by VIN. Unless you knew someone at very states DMV and had them run the VIN. Best thing you can do is post it here and other forums and see if there are any takers. For all you know, the car may have been destroyed or sitting in a barn rusting away someplace. Hopefully not because 69s look great.
Of course, if you just want to get rid of a 427, I'll take it.

This is almost the proverbial needle in a haystack, but I appreciate your efforts, and who knows, maybe the correct car will surface! Good Luck!

Before Bubba got his mits on my 69, it had a 427/390 (and FACTORY SIDE PIPES!)
You bet it's a needle in a haystack deal but one can always hope, so Bubba? where's the block with 714648 stamped on it?
Good luck with the search and thanks for making the effort.

Thanks guys, I actually do know someone at a DMV...hmm.

The story is, the car had a 502 crate engine installed many years ago (when that used to be cool) and it resided just 30 miles from me in another town. It may well have changed hands since then.

I'm going to give it a few more tries and then the engine will be here for sale. I always figured that a "real" Corvette engine would be more desirable than a re-stamp job, passenger car block or decked pad. It would be a nice upgrade for a non matching small block car that someone wanted to upgrade too I guess.

Thanks, Ron

Did you try the C3 Registry?

Is this related to the original thread? Is this the car that the 427 block goes to?

sonny, if you have or know of the car with that vin, send a private message to the original poster. he is on here rarely, but people get an email from the forum when they get a PM. and most of us keep email addresses a long time.

That would be a great thing that after 8 years an old thread could reunite an orphaned original 427 motor with its original car! I hope this gets updated.
