Some of those cars looked like nice restored Corvettes, but nothing unique, not super rare and not impossible to find. In other words, in my mind at least, I think I could find a very similar car for $10k or $15k less. That's the part I don't understand. If the car is rare or unique, then the market decides a price even if you hate it and think you would never pay close to that price. But when you can buy a gallon of milk anywhere for $3.50 and they are selling them for $5.25 at Barrett Jackson it does leave you scratching your head... .. or your *****.
You pay to buy, you pay to sell and you pay to walk onto the polo grounds at West World - - there are charity ball events that started last weekend and some of the most oppulent extravagances you can imagine.
If you're not on a budget and well fueled by cocktails, it's easy to see how people can get caught up in it - -and the eye candy is incredible!
There's also everything for sale from $50k watches, to foot massagers and old restored gas pumps.... something for everyone and nothing's cheap !
I watched Barrett Jackson this week also.
If I was going to buy, I would buy on a weekday.
It appeared some nice classic buys went reasonable in price through the
week.
If I wanted to sell my 68 BB, I'd demand it runs through on a Saturday when the hi rollers who are intoxicated and showing off for their trophy wife will be present.
That's good marketing as a seller
