And to the OP, understand that this does not entail buying a "block off" valance and just swapping it in. Those look a tiny bit better than not doing it at all, but still look bad.
The replacement valance will continue the seam straight to the ground and the body fenders need to have the part of the cut out remaining ( the "outside" half of the openings) actually filled in, to look correct.
