Need help with fender adjustments. How do i get the lines to look good? This is a 1980.If you have any pics that can help me out a lot. This is some pics of my car. Driver side fender
These cars were by far perfect from the assembly lines when it comes to body door fender and hood gaps. There's also some degree of ajustments and shimming that can be done to the door areas to fix some of this. Being that your drivers door has what appears to be an excessive gap at the front and rear upper portion, this "could" be a showing of body mount settling. There are alot of topics or discussions on this so I recommend doing a search to learn what others have done. There are others that can also add more to resolove the problem. You'll get the info you're looking for. just be patient.

These cars were basically glued together like a model car. They use adhesives and bonding strips to hold the panels together. Door gap problems can have a lot of causes. It could be anything from a frame going south to body mounts to previous accident damage.
Is the fender at the top near the windshield supposed to be fiberglass or bonded? It looks like to me some kind of fiberglass that was holding the fender under the windshield and somebody cut it.

Bonding is what holds the fiberglass pieces together. Some of the early years had metal trim along the top edge of the fenders and hood. The later years did away with that so yours looks like it's supposed to. Some of the bonding can be pretty sloppy. Do you know anyone who does Corvette body work? Maybe they could look at it for you.

I'm not an expert on how it's supposed to look in there but that does look nasty. Maybe if you paint the car black it won't be so noticeable. Have you checked the bird cage area for extensive rust? Have you checked for accident damage?
Maybe I could put it in a crusher that way I'll never have to see it again. but I like the car too much to do that. So I'll just have to live with it. Thanks for the information.
The gap at the front of the doors on my 79 look exactly like that. I have all new body mounts also. When I had my body mounts off, I jacked my front end up to see if I could close that gap some and it did not move at all. I assume it has always been like that. My doors open fine also with no movement. Dont worry about it.
