Default 68 convertable top frame adjustments

Had a convertable top installed on my '68 and the frame is not adjusted correctly. Can anyone tell me the proper way to adjust frame? Also front pins on top; which direction and which ones are left and right? I realize I might have to remove what was installed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

When you say "adjust the frame", are you talking about how the top and frame assy. sits on the car? If so, I've adjusted mine at the mounting. There are 2 large bolts on each side that secure the frame to the body rear of the door jambs. The mating surfaces (frame to body have sort of a knurling to keep the frame from slipping. I loosened the 4 bolts, closed the top and latched it. Once latched, I torqued the mounting bolts tight.

Be careful when you do this. Adjusting the top may require some further adjustment to the side glass. I spent a ton of time adjusting the top and glass so that there was minimal gapping when the windows were raised. Tedious for sure. THEN, I had to adjust again for the hard top. Surprisingly, there was very little additional adjustment required for the hard top.

Someone else may be able to help with the front pins. I thought they are one-way only. My car's in hibernation, so I can't easily look at it for you now.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

proper way is to roll up windows and adjust frame BEFORE new top is installed.
Shops are often in a hurry and they assume the previous top was done right. So they don't adjust anything and just throw on a new top.

In my case, it was a glass R&R, so I had to adjust the glass to the door, the jamb and tops (hard and soft). I did the work as per GM Service Manual instructions. That job is a PITA. I taught myself a new vocabulary, however, I'm now a little bit smarter for doing the work.

When doing this work BE SURE TO GO CAREFULLY WHEN OPERATING THE DOOR WITH THE WINDOWS ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT'S ADJUSTED PROPERLY. Make sure the window clears the top and the A pillar so as not to break the glass.
