74 Corvette vert.
I don't have the original rear carpet and I'm trying to install the two pieces over the wheels. I have flipped, flopped, and swapped the pieces. I turned them upsidedown and rightsideup. It never fits well. It can always kinda fit, but I don't want to install them wrong and have to buy them again. The best that I can figure is these pieces just get flipped up. Is that correct?
THank you! Also, I don't see any drains, where should they be? PO didn't take care of this car at all, it's been a long journey.
Well, I just went for it. The above photo was my best guess. It seemed to be alright. This is without glue, just trimming and checking. The back piece is definitely too short. What is supposed to be across the top? At least it's looking better now.
The back doesn't go all the way up, it does tuck under the edge of the 3 compartment frame at the front
The side don't fit well but keep playing and they will start to take shape, the clear parts with no padding go where the seat belt would mount type of thing
Don't trim anything until you get it fitting good (as good as it can)
I use 3m windoweld strips to hold the carpet in place rather than glue

I'm working on my 77 coupe so I feel your pain, I managed to get everything except the boxes because I didn't know I need new trim pieces for the tops in order to replace the top carpet pieces. I realized there no way to get the rear fender wells prefect because they are irregular shaped. Now onto the box tops next weekend. The only tricky part is the tuck behind the seats where the fender carpet and seat back pieces join. I have the FSM which has some pictures.
really old thread but carpet problems are timeless.in future start a new thread. my 75 had replacement carpets i think. fit really well, but they were shot. there was a bunch of tiny sheet metal screws around the perimeter up high and in a few spots down low that held carpet correctly. couldn't see the screws until you went fishing for them. i think it is the best way to go.
You couldn't see up there without standing on your head so they managed to save $0.01 per car and the accountants were happy
On mine (couple), I added a piece of matching material to cover that last bit up to the next lip so it's completely covered to where the rear window tray is
