That's the correct part number carb for a '74 Corvette with L82 and 4 speed. The 2993 means it was made on the 299th day of 1973 which was October 26.

We're carbs set up differently for auto vs manual. I wonder why the previous owner replaced it

Yes. Usually it was a matter of jet sizes.

You'd probably have kickdown linkage on an auto carb vs a manual as well, no?

It's an extra cable that the transmission uses to initiate a downshift when the throttle is open a certain amount.

Looking forward to going though your original carb - it should run very well for you once set up correctly. In addition to the carb, make darned sure you have your timing and timing advance system correctly set up - the timing will have a bigger effect on performance than the carb, in most cases. If it's not right, it will make it seem as if you have carb problems: "90% of all carb problems are ignition system problems." You can e-mail me for my timing papers for complete setup instructions.

Thanks Lars back in the summer I had my distributor gear replaced as my tach wasn't working and also had the timing set up properly by a very good shop here in town.
So that should be good I just don't really know if I have the proper jets or setup on my current carb. That's why I want to put the original carb back in
