I have a extra carb that I bought with my 74 vett. I believe it's the original but how will I know for sure ?? Where it says quadrajet there's 2 sets of numbers

I'm not sure what the kick down linkage is bit I do notice why I'm on the hwy and I floor the gas peddle it does seem to almost have an overdrive or something just feel an extra kick to it

It's an extra cable that the transmission uses to initiate a downshift when the throttle is open a certain amount.

Well I'm not sure what's wrong with it or why they took it out hopefully nothing major is screwed as I'm shipping it to Lars and he will have to take a look at it

Looking forward to going though your original carb - it should run very well for you once set up correctly. In addition to the carb, make darned sure you have your timing and timing advance system correctly set up - the timing will have a bigger effect on performance than the carb, in most cases. If it's not right, it will make it seem as if you have carb problems: "90% of all carb problems are ignition system problems." You can e-mail me for my timing papers for complete setup instructions.
Thanks Lars back in the summer I had my distributor gear replaced as my tach wasn't working and also had the timing set up properly by a very good shop here in town.
So that should be good I just don't really know if I have the proper jets or setup on my current carb. That's why I want to put the original carb back in
