Default How much does cutting one coil lower the front?

So today I was determined to make some progress on my car and wanted to get the lower control arms, coils and shocks installed.

I fought with the stock coil springs for 2 hours and Finally decided they would go in easier if they were just a hair shorter so I cut 1 short coil off the top of each one. They went in really easy after that. I'm just hopeing the front won't sit too low now with 27" tires.

I know I could have just bought new coils that are shorter but I was afraid it would raise the car up too high.

I liked the ride height before and now I'm afraid it's going to be too low

So how much will it drop on average?

on average, 1 coil will lower the front about 1"

oh jeez, now I'm scared, I'm already pretty low in the front. i don't have a real good picture to tell though.

I did order longer bolts for the rear spring because I did want the rear a little lower though, and in this picture it doesn't look that high.

'75, it looks like you cut one of the longer coils from the bottom though?

I love your after stance

If you had taken the control arm down from the chassis side it would have been easier to get the spring done. Also you could have used an inside spring compressor and instead of using the top holder on the spring you run the bolt up through the shock bolt hole and tighten it up from there. I never break a ball joint to remove springs.

Well I had to complete front suspension out because I replaced the bushings and all the joints, so everything was apart anyways.

If I have to change out the springs for new ones later it won't be a big deal Because I can do it at work faster. So I'll try not to worry about it too much guess.
