Greetings from Long Branch NJ,Americas first seashore resort and 7 time US summer capital....Been behind the wheel of a Vette since I bought a new 327 - 350 horse 4 speed coupe in 1968....Just remember that there are Corvette drivers and People that drive Corvettes....some don't know the tradition and some will never
Lee
Dang............3 c3s in two days, and no waves. The suns out and spring has finally begun. I feel silly waving my arm off with no results.................
All I had to read is, SPRING HAS SPRUNG I'm from the mitten state,
Be happy BRY.......
Got behind Silver C-6 just few moments ago on a local rural road..
(Berrymore.) when we came to NC 14 crossing .
he turned left to Eden NC and I right to Reidsville.
Gentlemen and his lovely companion both gave me a return
V-8 snort and wave .
And thats another thing.................My horn doesn't work, so I just rev it up when I want to make some attention. Think that has any thing to do with the "no wave" thing?.............Life in sunny Californians rough.............
Last Sunday... Corvette cruise C5 and C6's and my C3... Every one of them had their tops up / on... My tops don't go on .... Passed several other C5/6's along the way.. I was the only one that waved since I could actually get my arm out !! .. Never got a return wave ....
When I first got my C5, I didn't know about the Corvette Wave thingy.
It took me a few Corvettes to Realize what was going on.
Then I didn't know if I should wave to only C5's or all Corvettes... LOL
I'll wave at ya now no matter which Vette I'm Driving.
I wave to everybody because I'm driving a Vette! Actually I'd say that 90% of the time my wave is returned, and if not no worries - I'm carrying on the tradition.
It will be great if this stupid "tradition" goes away. It is one of those little things that gives corvette people the reputation of being snobs among car guys. "I am soooo special, and YOU are soooo special too , because we have this little secret that the peasants in their spam cans can't understand.... we are cruising in our ohh so special corvettes!
Get over it! This far along in history, most people that really want a corvette have one or have had one, or several. Sorry, but in the end it is just a car - better than most - worse than many - a frickin car. GEEZ!, I have owned 12 of them, some bone stock, and some highly modified, and they were never my life nor my identity. Now...
So let be written, So let it be done
Hail king ... ramses, Hail!

It's called "CULTURE" ! Sort of like the masonic hand shake or other such acknowledgment traditions. You haven't been on the forum long but long enough to know better than to step on that land mine!

I got my C3 in November so I had very little time to drive it before the salt trucks were out. It never occurred to me to wave to other Corvettes but I only recall seeing one before hibernation kicked in. Now I know and you can rest assured I will be waving my arm off this spring.

I'm a new Corvette owner( 3 months) and I wave as I'm driving my 78. Even if they don't wave back, still puts a bigger smile on my face as I cruise down the road.
