What is value of 1968 corvette coupe, bronze in color. Two owner car, 4 speed car , original 427 car/ 70 454 short block with original engine head & intake from original engine. Side pipe car. Current owner has owned car for 30 years, has all receipts & partial build sheet. Freshly painted but needs paint blended from front fenders to doors again. Front end had to be repainted & when it was, panel painted. Owner asking $13,000. Is it worth that?
Side exhaust wasn't offered in 68. What is the horsepower? I would guess 390 with the intake being original. Love the bronze.
The back of car doesn't have cutouts for side exhaust. The current owner has owned car for 30 years. he said car always had side exhaust. I had a 68 - 427 car in 1971. It came stock with side pipes. But I would like to know if $13000.00, is worth it. I can send a couple of pics.
All the research I done before I purchased mine was found that NO 1968 models cam with side exaust, so If you can find some please let me know as mine had them on.

I recently purchased a 68 NOM BB and based on what I saw if the mechanicals, frame/birdcage, and interior are in decent shape I believe $13000 is a great deal. I also believe $500 for misc items will not go far.
Sidepipes were probably dealer installed, like many others. That's not the same as "stock" or "factory".
Main Question--At $13000 & about $2000 total including paint blending, new valve covers/air cleaner/expansion tank,etc/. Is it worth $15,000..like to have some thoughts on that.
Easy to get side tracked I guess. My short answer is yes...that's not a large initial spend for a big block car. If you're confortable with the condition of the major mechanical components and frame, etc., I don't think you'd lose your shirt on this.
Walk into the deal with, say, $11,500 cash in one pocket. Take it out and show him what you'll pay on the spot in cash. If he's motivated to sell, it'll be a done deal. If he absolutely refuses, up it to $12,000. (Have that $500 in another pocket). You never know what he'll settle for unless you deal. Good luck.

Let us know what you finally settle on if you make the deal. So many posters leave us hanging.
Let's see some pics! Depending on the car, being 15k into it might be a pretty good spot to be but I would try pretty hard not to pay exactly what the seller is asking. It's hard to say what the car might be worth in a few years though. Do you want the car as an investment? How much work can you do yourself? Regular maintenance parts are often pretty cheap but labor can cost a fortune simply because it's a corvette...
If this is the car you want, go for it.
Tell him you will ALWAYS take care of the car, keep it original, etc. to butter him up.
Then maybe start around 10K, you never know. Good Luck.
