Thanks. With the exception of the first ad (sounds like too much work), I have seen these- the last of which was looked at by a friend (definitely a project).

I figure you could use those for comparison. Gives an idea of what`s around here. Happy hunting!

If you have to choose, I would recommend choosing one with great paint and no rust, but needing mechanical work, to one that was mechanically-perfect, but in need of paint or rust-repair.

Be patient, and inspect personally whatever you might be thinking of buying.

And good luck with your search!

Good paint a must !! New paint will cost as much as the car is worth unless you do it yourself.

I was just thinking the SAME THING, when I saw keithinspace's post, above!

I enjoy the show.

And I think the OP will find his car, in that range.

Im finishing up a full restore of my 78. Its a l82 4 speed factory numbers matching. Engine has been rebuilt, new clutch, all new complete brake system, new interior (not just seats, everything) and im painting her in a few weeks. Granted, i have a shop, tools, and lots of equipment. I do all the work myself and that definitely keeps the costs down. Anywho, i will be regretfully selling her because the amount of money i had to put into it was a little beyond my comfort zone. I will be selling it for the high side of your price range on the forum. Higher if i sell it off the forum. Youll find one and if not, when i get done with mine ill look you up on here. Im in atlanta, ga also.

Geez. You know, I've seen the show a couple of time and have really enjoyed it, but I promise that those were my own words. Didn't mean to sound like some type of parrot.

Should have copyrighted it...

I found the same thing when looking 6 weeks ago, patience paid off for me.

I wanted a car that someone had already spent some money on, C3 78 to 82 with good paint. Found a car 6 hours from me, 23,000 miles, 2 owner, painted in 1996, kept in garage. The second owner had 8K worth of receipts and only put around 4K miles on it in 15 years. It had been on the market for 8 months or so, started at $18,500, I paid 12K. Have put 4K in myself in 6 weeks to get it right, appraised at 20K for insurance this week. I could have bought a $7000. car and put 10K in it and been in the same place. Retired, over 60, bad back, no garage just a carport all played into that decision.

I can tell you this .. The C-3 unless it is an older bumper model with matching numbers you my friend are in control of the market , NOT the seller. I also have a 20k appraised car , With everything new under it , in side it and the drive train.. Not rebuilt or polished but new , not a single mechanical part was not replaced the car is right .. and paint was done as well 5 years ago.

The widow had it for sale for 3 years , started at appraised price and I paid less then half of that appraisal. So take your time. I looked for months and would drive all over to view until I found this one.

If your not into an "investment" type then your going to find a sweet car for under 10k guaranteed .

Here is a tip . These cars are a WANT ,, not a need .. And with the economy and the nation in the shape it is in do not let your want over power your good sense. Most c-3 cars have been listed for a year and I have seen some listed for 2 or more years.

So your in the drivers seat , just be careful when dealing with owners of these corvettes , we all tend to see the dream as much as the car and you can offend some easily.

My car , they wanted 15,500 . So what i did is , I showed my appreciation for what it is , excused myself walked to the sidewalk and said I am gonna make an offer from back here because I mean no disrespect and may need a quick get away if your offended.

That's a good approach, and your comment about the "want" factor makes a lot of sense. And leave it to a New Yorker to plan an escape route.

Can't blame you. I got out of the land of "NO", and I never looked back. Keep the faith, brother.

Heres a example. The 73 I just bought, L48 numbers matching car. Original except for the side exhaust and wheels/tires. Everything works, lights, wipers, heat, gauges, etc. Paint is old and faded (just how I like it) and excellent frame. Trans need resealed and new bumper cover. I paid 7 for it.
