Hi Guys and Girls
I'm sure this has been flogged to death but I am looking to replace the belts in the Vette. Anyone used these? Seem cost effective compared to the original type... http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1974-1977.html
Call Jeff at Seat belt Solutions in Jupiter Fl. they make most of the aftermarket belts out there. They made my custom belts for both of my restomods only took about a week both times.

You can do anything from replacement of your belt systems to repairing them via changing just the nylon webbing. If you buy the webbing material, you can have a racing seatbelt maker, upholstery shop, etc. change the webbing and end up with semi-new seat belts for MUCH less money.
A supporting vendor just recently had seat belts on sale for around 200.00. They included an assortment of colors. Sorry but I cannot remember the vendors name but a search might bring the name up.
Iv'e been searching for that post and can't find it
The webbing/belts are fine but there must have been moisture getting into the mechanisms under the seats. Its the originals as well. The bottom mechanisms are a bit rusted. The drivers side works fine as I have cleaned it out but the passenger side is sticking and theres a lot of surface rust on it.

I used a similar set from Ecklers for my '73. Worked out just fine. They just happened to have the best prices when I started looking for replacements.
If it's just the latch mechanisms, you could dunk them in a plastic tub with CLR rust/corrosion remover in it. Let it sit for a few hours and swirl it a bit every so often. That should remove the crud; then you can spray some white lithium grease in there to lube it up.
If it is the retractors that need help, they could be a little more difficult to clean up and get working properly. Or, maybe those should be replaced if they aren't much better after soaking in CLR.

Since you mentioned it and not I, I'll add to your comment since technically we aren't sponsors here. I work for Seatbelt Solutions as an Account Manager and in Sales. You are correct that we manufacturer 95% of all the seatbelts you see on all of the Forum sponsor's websites with the exception of one. We don't sell retail because all of the Corvette retailers are our customers and we will not compete with our customers.
However, we have done custom work for items that you could not purchase directly from one of the corvette retailers. We also do refurbishing of factory belts to Concourse quality or simple repairs.
The OP has a very common problem with the lower retractors being exposed to water and rusting. 95% of these retractors can't be restored due to the accumulation of rust plus the webbing material becomes impregnated with the rust so it falls apart during dis-assembly.
To answer the OP's original question, the link you posted from Ecklers is our Single retractor system thus eliminating the under seat lap belt retractor. It was designed as a less expensive replacement belt and prevent the rusting problem that lower retractors often fall prey too. The shoulder retractor mounts in the factory position as well as the door post fitting just below the roof and the anchor will mount where the underseat retractor was located allowing you to use the factory belt guide (footman's loop)
Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to email me.

Damm!! I found the vendor but the MFG does not make the for 69's.
Thanks for the detailed response Eric,
Cleared that up. I have ordered from the vendor. Will fill you in with the delivery and quality once the gear arrives. Comms has been good and I hope its one of your clients I am purchasing from
Javaman, Eric says they can do custom jobs... Could be a solution
Possible YB but the word "custom" sends shivers down my back!! LOL! Usually means time and big $. Found an OEM style set (with shoulder retracters) on ZIP for $319 complete. Doing a bit more research but pretty sure that's what I will order.
Make sure you check the location of your shoulder retractors. They should be a vertical mount meaning the bolt will point towards the tire. Horizontal mounted retractors started around 1970-71 where the bolt goes straight down into the frame. There are two different retractors that we use depending on the mounting point.
Your 1969 should also have the long buckle ends and sleeves. You'll need to verify if you have an early '69 or late since they used two different buckle sleeves. The more popular "GM" metal push button buckle fits the late 1969. The vendor you mentioned is one of my customers
