I've got a Carquest Battery in my '73. Previous owner converted the cables to top post style. I have a Battery Tender on mine and it hasn't given me any issues...
I've been using the Maxx battery from Walmart. Got the largest that would fit in the box with the highest CCA. I like Walmart because if there's a problem you just take it back. And if you're on the road, you can always find a Walmart!

Use a Battery Tender or a Save-A-Battery(better) and disconnect battery when parking for extended time. Tar top in my 300B is 13 years old, prior battery in my 71 lasted some 9 years. 71 has an Interstate battery which is the 7th battery replaced for free under the old JC Penny lifetime battery warranty. First installed the JC Penny battery in the 71 in 1974.
Prior to these techniques I was lucky to get 5 years out of a battery.
Have used both Walmart and Costco batteries in my regular driver cars for years. Excellent pricing, warranty and pricing. Jaguar takes you for over 200 bucks for one of their group 49 batteries. Walmart last time was 79 dollars. Mercedes also uses Group 49's at over 250 bucks.
