Default Later C3 hoods differences?

Are there any differences between a hood from a 1980 and a 1979 Vette? Is is a direct fit as well onto my '79?

Thanks

Dimensional & fit I THINK is the same, but you do know they are a different style, right?

73-77 and 78-82 are the same on top, but underneath is different as the latches and hood prop are in different places. The inner frame is different to accomodate those changes. /:\

Styling.

Pretty much. All the hardware is the same. Getting a good fit will be up to you.

73-76 use the same skin. They all have the grill at the rear edge, the 77 doesn't. The 73-75 hoods have the ram air system on the under side.

77-79 hoods all share the same skin, and underside. The strikers used on 77-78 hoods, are slightly different than the 79 striker, but attach in the same way. The latch mechanism on 76 and earlier hoods, is completely different.

80-82 hoods all use the same skin and mounting hardware, but the 82 has a ram air system, as part of its underside.

To the OP's question, Mike is right, the 80 hood's "power bulge" is shaped differently from the 79 hood's, but the 2 hoods are interchangeable without any modifications.

Thanks. Ya, I've taken a good look at a few pictures online now and I see the '80 is somewhat pointed at the front of the bulge. I'd prefer to put the correct hood back on (If) I ever get to that point on this rebuild so I'll take another look at mine and see how much work it will take to patch up. I'll probably grab this '80 hood regardless.

Thanks everyone.
