The 73 only had one horn (second was optional in 74). The single horn is a low note horn. Part number 9000032.

Page 393 of my AIM from Corvette America shows 1 horn. The page is dated 4-19-72.

Test your horns. You'll hear the difference.

My 73 L-48 has a horn that sounds more like a sick cow!

I get better results by shouting out the window

The alarm horn is behind the drivers side rear wheel.

This is where the horns were when we took the car apart, can't recall if there were wires going to them. Thanks for pointing out the page in AIM, i was looking to find them where we took them off, not in a totally different place. This restore has been one big puzzle. Looking at AIM & wiring diagrams and see it should be just one horn. So i'll put these horns back on shelf for now, i'll be intrested to see old front end wiring harness and how many horn wires i have, have a brand new wiring harness so hopefully we can put back togeather correctly. Was installing new rear wiring and alarm horn and these horns were stored with alarm horn, so was cleaning and testing them and was gonna hang them back on front, one worked one didn't, the rest is history. Keep telling myself, this thing is 40 years old, who knows what has happened through the years.

I don't really know about a 73, but that can not be right. You would fill the horns up with dirt and bugs in no time with them pointing straight forward that way. Lou.

On the 72 they were (it was) mounted to the bonded panel that runs along the area between the hood and the lights. In between the two valves for the headlamp vacuum system.

yeah that is the general area they were, i just stuck them on for the pic, i have another photo of before removal, so they maybe turned wrong. it does seem however they should be directed to front or side not back toward car, i'm gonna look up those pics.

As Mooser said, the earlier cars had the horns pointing straight down, but they are very high in the nose and do not collect dirt or water. Lou.
