Default '75 under dash vent.

My '75, with factory air, routes air to the driver side round chrome register using a plastic rectangular shaped connector tube. That tube connects/slip fits under the dash to an air outlet near the radio area of the center console. The connector pipe seems to be positioned way to low (not actually viable) because when I let the clutch pedal out the toe of my shoe gets stuck between it and the pedal and no - I'm not 'Side Show Bob' or 'Big Foot', I have normal sized feet . I removed the connector pipe (dark grey rectangular hard plastic piece) and have plenty of room with it gone. Unfortunately, that renders the lower left air register useless. The clutch, brake and accelerator pedal heights all look completely stock and the distance from carpet to each pedal seems correct (clutch pedal sits 1/2 inch higher off the floor than the brake when not depressed which is normal). Any one else with this issue and if so is there a fix?

The same duct was on my 74 and never gave me any problems. Have you checked the AIM to ensure you have the correct duct and that it is installed correctly?

Looks like it's time for me to pull out the drop light and do my homework - as soon as my garage temp gets above 50. Old and cold might rhyme but I don't do my best work if I'm cold. Thanks for the followups.

I'm having the exact same issue on my 73, so I'm resurrecting this old thread instead of making my own. Does anyone have some pictures of how this tube should be situated? I've been driving it as is thinking it's just the price you pay for air conditioning, but I actually kicked it loose last night and it made for a somewhat dangerous experience. I can go back to studying the AIM, but found pictures are often more helpful. Thanks in advance!

The real duct should have the round vent facing floor. It is expensive so Bubba sometimes buys the cheap one for the non a/c car to save cash but it does not fit the same

Mine is certainly the A/C car vent duct, with the small circle vent that faces down. Non-A/C cars do not have a vent that goes across/under the steering column. The drivers side vent on those cars goes to a fiberglassed duct behind the fender to bring in fresh air. Suppose I'll review the cartoons in the AIM for more info.
