Balance
If my engine is externally balanced and I switch from a automatic to a 4 speed, do I have to balance the new flywheel or just bolt it on. My engine is out of an 89 with a ton of work done to it.

Not knowing what engine you are talking about.
I guess it is a 454?
2 choices, put another bbc stick flywheel on (I would use something similar, like another 89 flywheel) and go or (best choice)take the auto flywheel to a balance shop and have them balance your new stick to the autos weight.
But that is only good if the auto flywheel was balanced with the rotating assembly.
