Can't you just put the old fan on the new clutch?

Maybe the notch, was to balance the fan?

If it is a notch with a tang on the top that is a BB fan for 73. The ones without the notch and tang work just as well. Transfer your fan to a new clutch. Original was fluid, replacements are themo, BTW

I would not want to use a fan with 'notches' in every blade (or in ANY blade, for that matter). Notches mean 'stress risers'; and that means that the blades are weakest at those areas.

Ever see a car where the fan blew apart from fatique failure? No? Then don't use a fan with 'notches' in the blades.

I believe the back side of the fan blades were notched at the ends to clear the power steering pump pulley and belt.

I think you are right, I found some writing on it that says 74 Vette, the notches are factory made so there has to be a logical reason for them

These notches are not made by bubba these are factory made small square notches in the trailing edge of each blade.
