I recently picked up a 1973 c3 coupe, it's someone else project but I figured I would give it try and get it back together, I am going to be ordering a new manual since I'm going to need it but I want to start the new motor that's in the car, but I believe I'm missing a few key parts for the gas tank, I currently looking at a brand new replacement tank but not sure what goes where and why I have a hole on top and bottom of the darn thing, can anyone explain this to me?
Hi KD,
New Member WELCOME!
It sounds like you may have an interesting project in front of you!
In 73 the gas filler neck is in the top of the tank, and the fuel sending unit is in the bottom.
Regards,
Alan
The manuals you should be ordering are the 73 AIM (ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL) used in St.Louis where the car was built, and the 73 GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL, used at the service departments of the dealerships.
Greetings Newbie and congrats on the '73. Your life will never be the same now.
New, replacement tanks do not come with bladders anymore. It's quite acceptable to install a bladderless gas tank in your car. Good luck with the project.
Ok just wanted to make sure, next question I have a tilt telescope column on my car and have a broken ignition switch rod or so called interlock part inside of it, I can't seem to find this part anywhere, anyone have any ideas maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing but I can't find one. Ift the part that connects to the ignition switch activation gear in the column.
