Default Steering column removeable hel needed

Hello all,
Need help in the removable of the steering column in a1970.Are the only things I have to do is:' remove the cable going to the column,the the two bolts going through the fire wall and the black plate , and the two bolts to the dash. How do I remove the black plate that is on the column that is next to the
Does the black plate come off when I remove the column?

Hi Nelson,
The bolts you list will release the column from the car. Remember to remove the rag joint if it's still hooked to the column shaft
The 'plate' on the engine side of the firewall will come off (there's sometimes sealer on it that holds it in place) once the column is out. The 'plate' on the interior side of the firewall is part of the column itself.
Remember there are electrical connections on the column from the dash harness that will need to be unhooked as you take the column out.
