Al Knoch seat foam vs Corvette America seat foam
I am doing my seats and not very happy with the al knoch seat foam. Its rough as sandpaper and doesn't have the holes like I thought it would.
The picture on the left I took from a corvette america video. The picture on the right is the al knoch foam I received (sorry the metal frame is on it in the picture).. but as you can see, the foam is clearly way different. I am really struggling with the al knoch foam.

I can't say that I have any real life experience between Corvette America foam and Al knoch foam but I can say I recently finished mine with Corvette America foam and covers and was really happy with the fit and finish.
Looking at your photo of the seat frame on the foam it looks like the frame sits a little on top of the foam rather than down in the recess.
If I recall, my frames buried right down into the recess even before attaching leaving the frame and foam surfaces flush on all four sides.

Knoch foam is good stuff and I've done installations with it. I just like the Ca foam a bit more. The Ca foam was re-tooled and formulated to the correct density about five years ago.. You can read about these changes at this link.

I used the Al Knoch foam and am quite happy with it. Regarding the lack of holes in the foam, I presume you're referring to the spring hooks that are pulled through the foam to attach the seat cover to the frame. I used a crochet hook attached to a wood dowel (for a handle) to pull the hooks through. It also helped to kneel on the seat frame to compress the foam enough to pull the hooks through.
My original seat foam was so deteriorated that I can't honestly do a before and after compare, but I can say my seats look and feel darn good with the Al Knoch foam and seat covers.
