removing speedo cable

removing speedo cable
I can't seem to disconnect my cable from the the instrument cluster. I can't see it, but it feels like there is no connector back there, can I disconnect it from where it is connected to a junction box on the left wheel well, under the water tank for the wipers?

I just replaced mine on my 72. There was a retaining clip, all I had to do was push the clip toward the speedo (clip does not get removed) and the cable slides straight out the back. I laid on my back with a light under the dash when I did mine. Good luck.

that junction box is the cruise control transducer, if youre having problems alot of times that where the problem is not the cable., some have done as i did, replace the 2 piece cable with a single cable .
