Default 1975 corvette [ how many ]

I have a 1975 Mille Miglia Red L48 Black Leather interior no ac, manual 4 speed Corvette with approx 54,000 miles. In 1975 there was 38,465 made, 31,914 came with ac, 28,745 came with power windows and 1,057 came with a manual 4 speed. I looked through c3 registery and found 3 L82 1975 Corvettes with a manual 4 speed and 1 L48 with a manual 4 speed. My 1975 has no ac and no power windows and every one I had seen had power windows and ac. Everyone I had seen was Mille Miglia Red had Black Leather interior, but none had or didn't have what came exact options as what I have. I am guessing maybe I have 1 of 3 cars made, maybe 5. I tried to find the answer but am having no luck. I thought I would ask here because it seem all the answer could be found here. Thanks zapparex

Hi z,
It sounds like you have a pretty nice car!
Chevrolet kept no records of various option combination production numbers.
Many people do just what you've done and get about as close to a production number for cars like their car as you have.
You're right, not likely there were many made just like yours.
Now, how about some pictures!
Regards,
Alan

The site I looked at shows that number, 1057, was for close ratio 4spds, not total, and you could only get them in L82s.

With that said, 28,473 sold were autos so that leaves 8935 wide ratio 4spds produced. No way of knowing how many went into L48 or L82.

As Alan said you will not be able to get a definitive answer.

I am back to thank Karol for catching that about how many 4 speeds were produced that year. I had thought a mistake was made when it said only 1057 L82's came with that transmission and in the specs that I looked at didn't say anything about the other type of transmission, besides automatic. I looked at the specs sheet again and from what I understand interiors shows code 404 for black and 192 for b/l for black leather, 407 for silver and 142 for si/l for saddle leather and 416 for saddle and 652 for ms/l for medium saddle leather. It is hard to understand because it shows leather in 404 for black, 407 for silver and 416 for saddle ,but no code for silver leather. These are my specs for my 1975 code 76 exterior color 192 for black leather, and cub for carb and trans.

Those are '74 codes, not '75.

Better toss away your reference book then. '74 and '75 specs couldn't be more different.

No disrespect, but you're kidding yourself. GM did not keep numbers on options production or color combinations so guessing 1 of 3 or 5 will lead no where.

The 1057 figure is for the optional M21 close ratio 4 speed which required the L-82. The 4 speed in your car is the the M20 wide ratio unit.

Why fret over how many others there may or may not be? Why not enjoy the car you have?

For 75, Mille Miglia red is code 76, 3355 cars, third most popular exterior color. Black vinyl is 19V; black leather is 192.

Hi there easy Mike, I now see that a 1975 with color code 76 and interior code 192 isn't as rare as I had figured and thanks to everyone for your knowledge.

No harm done. You've got a nice car just the same. Cruise and enjoy.

Order a copy of The Corvette Black Book or the NCRS 1968-82 Corvette Specifications Guide and you won't have to rely upon possible misinformation off an internet site.

You asked some questions and it became clear that your source of info is at fault. Stingray Jer pointed you to a site that has the correct info. I added that the numbers you were using were from another year. You disregarded these two pieces of info and posted your source which clearly says "This information is suspect"

And I'm the a-hole?

No one is trying to make you look bad, or insult you. Go back and look at the website your quoting. It says right over the 75 interior section "This information is suspect".

The website is telling you up front, that the info they posted is wrong, and they know it! The interior codes posted there are for 1974, not 75.

The 75 interior codes are:
Silver vinyl: 14V, leather: 142
Black vinyl: 19V, leather: 192
Dk Blue vinyl: 26V, leather: 262
Neutral vinyl: 60V, leather: not offered
Med Saddle vinyl: 65V, leather: 652
Dk Red vinyl: 73V, leather: 732

Just from a quick look at "vettefacts", there appears to be a fair amount of erroneous information there. Do yourself a favor, if your going to look at at that website, do it for entertainment purposes only. Just don't believe evrything you read there.

If you want correct, valid specs and information, about 75 Corvettes, buy the Corvette Black Book, or even better yet, the NCRS Corvette Specifications Guide.

As far as your quest to determine how many 75's were built with the exact same combination of colors and options, as your car, there is no way of knowing. From all indications, Chevrolet never made any effort to track this kind of information. For some years, there aren't even complete production numbers for colors or interior trim. Even if Chevrolet did keep this information, it's not currently available, and may never become available.

The best you can do is make a guesstimate based on the production totals, but it will only be just a guess. Guessing doesn't take into consideration, how options are purchased, which very likely skews the results.

Hey stingray-Jer, Thanks for the info. and have it in my favorites section. I am new and learning to not just believe one site. Mike ward lets start over, I don't want anybody unhappy and do not try to make any enemies. Your comments were better toss away your references book and the bold text above might be a clue, it doesn't seem helpful, so that where it seemed insulting. I have seen sites for picture and other things that when I try to check them out they don't come up on the screen. I hadn't checked what Stingray-Jer had sent. My mistake.
