Default Steering column is loose

My column is loose is there a way to tighten the column or do I need a rebuild? The video is really ****** quality I know. But it is what I could get with no light an an iPhone the titl still works and locks into its positions and the telescoping works fees but it is just loose. What do you guys think?

I assume that you have a Tilt & Telescoping steering column. This paper begins with a series of tests that you can perform with the steering column still installed in the car. It has some quick checks that lead you to you can be able to find the cause of your looseness.

Blew me away today was out driving in my 1977 vette and did not know it had a telescopic steering wheel. Freaking thing came loose and the horn was constantly blowing because it keeps the horn tight also. Low and behold the little turn thing on the column to keep it tight came loose and the steering wheel came towards me. Freaked me out because I did not know the 1977's had this feature. I thought it came in later vettes. Finally figured it out and this car is very new to me.

That is exactly what happened to me about a year ago on mine I hit the brakes real hard and grabbed the wheel real tight the slide was in the unlocked position and the steering wheel went away from me very scary lol

I got the wheel off and the spring for the telescoping and got down to the turn signal plastic assembly and I can't get it out without breaking the wires I tried a hundred different ways is there any way that you are supposed to pop the wires off the plastic or will the wires come with it and not break if I give a good pull?
