Default new corvette owner!!

Hello, all! I just drove my '79 home around 160 mile ride! I traded another car and some parts for it! It is a very light blue, w/blue interior, automatic, and T-tops. It has 72,000 miles on it.
The T-tops are cracked, but still seal and fit fine. The only other problem I encountered was the windshield wipers, would only activate, by pushing it in to run the washer pump. It drove great, all the way home, nice and smooth, no wind noise, I did not want to get out of it!!! The paint is cracked in some spots, and the driver seat has some cracks in it but nothing major...
I would like to know if there is a topic for deciphering the VIN # or is it easier to order a certain manual?
I enjoy the forum, and appreciate any information. Thanks, all!!

Welcome, sir. You will find that we pine for pictures, so feel free to post away. There is a sticky on how to do this if you are not familiar (need a photobucket account).

To understand your VIN breakdown, check out this website. The only option you can decipher in the VIN is the engine model - L48 or L82.

http://www.vettefacts.com/C3/1979.aspx

As far as manuals go, you'll be greatly served ordering the Assembly Instruction Manual, heretofore referred to as the AIM.

Default Congratulations!!!

Congratulations!!! Your Corvette sounds nice!
C3's are great!

(You came to the right forum, great people and great place to ask questions and get help and learn)

Check vin decoding button at this site:

http://corvettec3.ca/

I would also get a GM factory service manual and Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) for starters.
