1971 hood cable....HELP

1971 hood cable....HELP

Hello, Its been a while. I have a serious problem. My 71 hood cable
(Latch to Latch) broke. The driver side is unlatched and the passenger side is latched. (The car has air conditioning) I tried going through the eggcrate, I tried sliding something through removing the top grill.
Got nothing but dirty and frustrated. I tried jacking the car up and going underneath(Air is in the way) Any ideas?

Isn`t there a removable plug under the wiper door, where you can put a screwdriver in to push the lever and get it to release?

Thanks, I did think of that because my 72 has one, I'm headed into to the garage to see again

Oldgto....You are the man, It took an hour of fishing, What I ended up useing was a copeing saw, took it apart and fished with that.....Of'course I took the wiper door and the grill peice off.............All of a sudden..POP Now I have to but the part $60 yikes........Thanks
