Don't like the exterior but other than the dash pad and covering on the interior windshield posts I LOVE that interior. I'm going to contact him/her and see where they got it done.
Maybe I should offer to trade him my oyster colour interior for his/her lavender ones.
Back in 1980, the 1970 wasn't a big financial investment. If wrecked, then the updating was an easy issue. Many updated their cars back in the '60s and '70s, as staying original had very little importance then.
Alot of people here do NOT realize, that back in the late 70s and early 80s, it was fine to change chrome bumpers to rubber bumpers. The same went with interior items etc. People did it all the time to make their cars look like the new Corvettes. This is just one of them.

Yep, if you subscribe to Hot Rod, you'll sometimes see pics from on of the popular customized car shows back in the day, and compared to what I've seen, this one is mild! You'll often see C2's, extensively modified, chopped, cut and with all kinds of crazy headlights and grilles.
Stuff we laugh or cringe at now, was accepted practice back then!
Kind of reminds me of the paint job I have on mine. I'm sure it was special to somebody, and probably took a lot of work, but starting next week it will be history.
Many many years ago my mother painted her bathroom the same color as the interior. Alan's comment about the bathroom rug console confirms it... someone has built a Corvette around my mothers bathroom.
That is f***ed up!!! Why didn't he just buy an 80!!
Why?
Because a 1980 new was over $13,000 and closer to $17,000 with the normal options. Even after a couple of years, it would be over $10,000 which was about a year salary for many people then.
And the '70 was worth around $3000 - $4000 if in good shape. Wreck? Then it was a $500 - $1000 item. So to upgrade to an '80 would cost him $7000 if lucky and maybe $15,000 if he wasn't.
But it will probably get more positive attention than alot of your cars (my fellow Forum members!). Overall insult meant!!!!! I don't like people that slam customs. To each his own, is better! Creativity and orginality is appreciated even if it isn't to my taste!
