Default Help with 1973 4 speed reverse lights.

Hi,

I'm looking for some help with my reverse lights. I have a 1973 350 with a 4 speed (coupe). The wires off the transmission back up switch are cut and tied up (under the car at the transmission)with roughly 3-4 feet of the properly colored wires (green and pink). With that much wire coming off the reverse switch I suspect the wires were cut back where they join into the electrical harness. I know and understand the circuit, it is fairly simple. When in reverse the back up switch at the transmission closes / makes a connection, allowing 12 volts back to the reverse lights. My problem is I believe who ever cut the wires for the reverse lights cut them back at the wire harness. That being said I'm looking to understand where the green and pink wires connect back into the harness, is it under the dash, in the engine compartment? My problem is I cant locate the two cut wires (green and pink) to re-tie back the circuit together. I understand the pink wire for reverse lights ultimately goes up to the backup lights / turn signal fuse (from a circuit perspective) and the green goes back to the reverse light sockets. I could just "direct wire to get things working but would rather tie back in at the correct position. Again, I'm looking to figure out where to tie the two wires (green and pink) from the transmission back up switch back into the circuit, at their proper position(s). Any help will be most appreciated. One other thing, I have the Doc Rebuild's oOSOEZ diagrams, these are great for understanding the circuits but they don't give specific harness / circuit locations.

Thanks,

Russ

The connector should be in the engine compartment by the firewall.

...And is a separate harness, isn't it?

Hello again,

Well I found all the wires. Apparently I've had the world famous "Bubba" working on my electrical wiring prior to my ownership. I found the Pink and green wires tucked up under the dash with the connector cut and tape on the pink (hot) wire. Very similar to the tranny back up switch which has the pink and green wire tied up by the transmission also with the connector cut off. I hope I get to meet Bubba some day, I'd like to be able to thank him personally. Again, thanks for the help. I'll have reverse lights in no time. Russ
