I understand that the recommended wheel backspace for our cars is 4". I am looking at a Torque Thrust wheel that has a 4.5" backspace. What are my options in this situation? Thanks.
Yo, RickyBerg, thanks for your reply. So if I understand this, the wheel moves inward toward the hub. Is this correct? That is why it can interfere with the parking brake mechanism? So would this be a situation in which a "spacer" would be helpful to bring the wheel further outward?
1st of all as the others have said find wheels with the 4" backspace........but what diameter wheels are you talking about? Several cars on this forum are running 18x8s with 4.5 backspace with no issues. The only visual draw back is the wheels looked slightly "tucked" inside the wheelwells. If you do a search using "18s" there are several threads on this.
I may have to go back to the rep for the wheels to see if they can make a set with 4" backspace. On the first inquiry, here's what he sent: We do make a 17x8 Anthracite 105M that I show is a proper fit for your ‘vette, but the backspacing is 4.5 inches, would that work for you? Or is there a certain reason why you need 4 inches of backspacing? The part number for that wheel is as follows: AR105M7861A
That's why, AR doesn't make 17'' torq thrust in anthracite with 4'' backspace unless you custom order them for $1600 a set.
Look up Rev classic 100s. They are licensed by AR and come in the size and color you want, and IMO look 100x better because they don't have a stepped lip. I have them on my car and were under $700 shipped for the set. PM me for details
