82 Vette knock sensor??

Default 82 Vette knock sensor??
I need to replace the knock sensor on my 82 but holy crap these are expensive. Is it because of the style? Because I see listings for newer sensors that look a little for about the 1/3 of the price. I would just have to replace the sensor plug. Has anyone done that??

Is the wiring chewed up by a rodent or is the actual sensor no good?

sensor is no good. broke it off at the block. Long story, was able to remove the rest from the block though.

I got one for a 87 vette a lot cheaper and you can get the connector for it .could not find the connector for a 82
