How, on earth, do I get at the bulb in the rear compartment (glove box) to replace it? Looking at the AIM, it appears the little cover thing with the lense in it just pops over the light and switch and is maybe stapled in there? Anyway, I don't like pulling on stuff unless I know it is ok...it's 43 years old!
IIRC you just pull the whole thing up. The bulb is basically on the back of the plunger switch
Mooser
I spoke too soon and remain a little confused...do you mean pull the whole compartment door assembly out or pull the plunger assembly out? I gave the plunger assembly a little tug (without removing anything) and it doesn't want to move at all.
Mooser is correct. Pull the "plunger" out to get to the bulb. Do it gently but firmly. It may be binding on something. Since the compartment is too small to get your head in to get a look, use a small mirror.

It should be snug but not so tight it won't come out. Try going through the jack storage compartment & pushing up on it while pulling from the top side, works for me. Good luck.
