From your"handle", I'll have to assume you have a 73. Here is a picture from my 73 L82 AC car:
Note that the purple wire is connected to a capacitor (condensor) whose other end goes to a connection on the blower motor. Per my 73 wiring digram, the purple should go to the S connection on the starter solenoid and the orange wire should connect to the capacitor. With my arrangement, my car starts fine and my blower works as intended. I'll have to do some detective work.

Thanks for posting the photo. Mine is wired opposite of yours, orange wire connected to blower & purple wire hanging loose. You say everything works as it should therefore I am going to connect my wiring same as yours but I am very curious as to why there seems to be a spare wire & what it is for. I know with all the knowledge on this forum someone will will jump in here with the answer. Oh & yes mine is a 73.
