A 1" piece of pushrod fell between the lifter bore and cam. I heard it drop into what i think is the oil pan. Can this cause a problem? The engine is a 1972 454.
Thanks,
You dropped a rather large hardened piece of steel into your engine between all kinds of moving engine parts, you cannot locate it anymore and your question is if this could cause a problem....

Seriously?
Alternative plan is to just start it. If it's someplace it shouldn't be, it will reappear.
As I see it, the options are go fishing as mentioned or drop the pan.
if you ''broke'' an end/piece of a pushrod, you'd better be checking any and all other valvetrain parts, lifters, rocker arms, cam, pushrods, springs,,do you at least have the intake manifold off?,,you have bigger problems then a broken pushrod in the valley
