Default P01 hubcaps

Hi all,
I just scored a set of hubcaps off CL for $80. I did some research on here to make sure they were for corvettes, and I think they are. they are 15" inside clip-tit to clip-tit, center cap is raised above and bolts on with 4 screws. Owner said he was told they came off a '69 vette, but he had them on an impala low-rider. They are about perfect except he sprayed some clear coat with glitter on them...they should clean up with a little paint thinner I think.

My question: My 68 build sheet lists P01 option, so I hope these will suffice. Is there any way to tell the difference between P01 and P02? I see in someones pic that the clip on the inside where it clips to the wheel is solid, mine are like 2 prongs. Does that matter? Are there any mfg id #'s or anything I should look for?

Lastly, the center cap flags are a little faded, can you get just the decal/sticker or do I have to buy the entire center cap? hate to put $240 into these when they only cost $80 to begin with.

Thanks for your help, this forum rocks!
Tim.

There are slight differences between P01s and P02s, but they are minor and most people never detect the differences. It is possible the P02s actually came out late in the 68 model year without a change in the option designation.

At one time, the crossed flags inserts were being reproduced. The complete center cap is being reproduced and comes with the crossed flags.

OK, see the springy part that is riveted on, that holds the cap to the rim in your last pic? mine are not 1 long piece, but 2 prongs (make sense?). Just wondered what that meant. I don't have a pic yet but tonight I can take one.

Trim parts makes excellent quality reproduction centre caps for approx $60 each or you can buy the cross flag centre for about $25. I can't answer your clip question

I'm with Easy Mike. My Jan built 68 has P01's listed on the Corvette Order Form but the are P02 caps. A very slight difference is that the turbine fins come to a point at the center cap on the P01's and on a P02, the point is gone and it's flat. I believe my are the original caps that came with my car.
