Default 75 vette

Hello All,

Im looking at possibly purchasing a 75 vette The read end has 411 gear ratio in it and the seller is telling that this is rare. The car is in near perfect condition except for some paint issues the car is very clean and unmolested. It has the L-48 and standard trans. All original...Thoughts???

Thanks for your input... John

Nothing special about 4:11 gears with 165 hp. You're looking at a base model coupe from 1975 (second to last year of the Stingray script, which means nothing of course). These can be good cars, but buy wisely.

[Thoughts]

4.11:1 rear axle ratio was not available from GM for 1975. Standard was 3.36:1, with 3.70:1, 3.08:1, 3.55:1 as factory options. Check out http://www.vettefacts.com/C3/1975.aspx

This is rare because not many owners would bother putting 4.11 gears in a stock L-48, but it does not make it valuable unless that is what you really want.

Unless you do your own paint work, 'some paint issues' could be one of the most expensive items to restore on a fiberglass body.
