Weatherstrip Question
I noticed that Zip is now selling Latex weatherstripping. It is the kit for a 73 coupe is $130 more than the non-latex kit. Should I spend the extra money for the latex? Thoughts

Hi g8,
Over the years I believe I've read the most positive comments about the weatherstrip made by Corvette Rubber Company in Cadillac Michigan.
I would base my decision on that criteria.
Many vendors, (but not all), sell the CRC weatherstrip sets.
Regards,
Alan

Yes. Original factory weatherstripping was the latex variety. I agree with Alan: look for Corvette Rubber.

So is the CRC weatherstripping latex. I would think that if it is not it might be worth the extra $130 to purchase the latex for a better fit.

It is and that's what you're buying from Zip.

I went with Metro SuperSoft. A Corvette restoration specialist, dies mostly C1's, said it was very good. Picked up a complete set for $168 on Amazon.

So the weatherstrip kit sold by Willcox is $265 Zip sells the latex kit for $429 & the non-latex kit for $299. It's hard for me to believe Willcox can sell the same latex weatherstripping for $165 less.

Believe it.. you won't be disappointed..
The crc brand stuff is the best on the market and USA made. It is skinned as original and is the only kit we will install in our shop.

Ernie I trust what you say. When I do take on the job of replacing my weatherstrip I will be purchasing it from Willcox

I'm not finished with this.. but you might keep it handy when you do replace the weatherstrips.
