Hi, I'm a new member as I just bought a 72 vette in March. My second vette I've owned. I've rust proofed the frame with Eastwoods rust encapsulation product, then I removed the windshield to fix the little rust I saw on the Apillars. There was more rust than had shown once the glass was out and that's another story for a diff day..... I removed the 2 small metal brackets that are on each side of the front section of the ws frame. There's a raised metal rectangular section of the ws frame on both sides of the front, just below the bottom edge of the windshield. A Phillips screw holds these small metal brackets on, plus on the top edge of the brackets is a rubber edge which hits against the bottom edge of the windshield on either side. The bracket is approx 1/4" x 1.5" long with rubber on the end. Both of these brackets were rusted thru and I cannot find this replacement part anyways! On none of the online websites. Maybe I just don't know the name of it. Before I put the windshield back in, I'd like to find these parts as they seem to hold the windshield in place and are important. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi jh,
Welcome!
You're right those 2 little brackets do help position the windshield.
The bracket has been asked about before and I don't think anyone knew of it being reproduced.
In fact I think someone ended up making a pair for himself since he had the skills to do that.
You can try some of the Corvette Recyclers like Gee's Auto Sales (Gee's Corvette) in Middlebury Center, Pa. for some used parts.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thank you Alan for your response and pic too! It looks like this clip doesn't have any rubber on the side that touches the windshield as shown in your pic, correct? I'll try some of those 2nd hand vette places. Kind reards, Joe
