Default Replace radio

I have a 1980 with a radio/cassette deck that I would like to replace with a modern radio/CD player. It turns out that the space the old one occupies is not very popular because it is not a single or double din space. I believe I can install a single din but there will be an opening either above or below the new radio. What is the solution?

I believe you can get a large cover plate to cover the excess space then snap the radio face place plate over it. I also believe if you do a search, you might find some more info. Good luck with your project.

probably all the suppliers sell a center gauge cluster housing with the DIN size opening made into it, then you don't have to go hacking up your original dash cluster.
