Putting the final touches on my 76 C3 for the Summer and trying to install the cigarette lighter assembly to work so that I could power my GPS.
I have the lighter and housing with the threads at the base of the housing and the power lead plugs into the bottom of the housing.
Where does the ground lead get plugged into? I think I'm missing the ground lead and I think it screws up to the bottom of the lighter assembly. Does anyone have a picture or illustration of how this should look? Checked my assembl manual and nothing.. Dialed into ebay and looked for one for sale.. nothing..
There could be a ground ring on the console harness which grounds the lighter against the underside of the console, otherwise, the lighter grounds on the console plate (which has it's own ground) when you install the lighter.
In a pinch, you can also attach a wire to the outside housing for a ground. Black is the ground wire. Some of the newer store bought assemblies have these already on them. Good Luck
