NOT the dimmer switch, I pulled it out and tested it with an electrical tester, it was toggling between the two lower blade connectors when I pressed it.
Guess tomorrow I'll check all the wires going to the headlights.
Any suggestion?
The high beams are fed off the dimer switch via two seperate lt-green wires (left and right sides have their own wires) all the way from the firewall block.
Single lt-green wire from switch to firewall.
It (the switch) should feed either the low-beam via the single tan wire or the high beams via the lt-green. So if the lows are working
I do not believe there are an fusible links or anything on the engine side of the wall on either circuit.
If the low is working and the highs are not it almost has to be a problem with the switch or a loose connection at the switch or bulkhead.
Like I stated above, I tested the dimmer switch and its good.
I found one of the green high beam wirs got pinched in the headlight mechanism and got cut in half.
I just had about the same problem. both hi & low did not work and i purchased dimmer switch from NAPA and that corrected the problem. Some one the the forum told me what it was and he was right. Just $12 and i was back in the seat and running. By the way just buy one and unplug the wires hook the new one up and see if that does it.
Check the ground wires from the bulbs. Dimmer is OK, but you found one power feed wire cut. Fix that and then start following the circuit- power to that green wire you fixed, the bulb is good, then the next place has to be a ground.
Sorry about the lame joke but I had to laugh as I read through this thread. The key word is read which apparently some people don't do so well. Glad you got it fixed.
