Hello. .. I usually hang in the C2 section. My car, a '64 is currently undergoing a diff carrier change out. Here's what's going on:
The replacement diff unit is out of a '71 year car. The diff is installed, everything ready to go with u joint hookup. Looks like a conversion drive shaft to pinion flange u joint is needed here as the current u joint on the drive shaft isn't wide enough to seat between the upraised 'ears' that the trunnions fit up against. .. Does anyone have a recommendation or part number for the conversion u joint?
The side yolks accept caps and bolts instead of u joint straps and nuts. I bought a set of caps and bolts. The mounting holes in the caps being offset from center line, does the offset, or thicker portion go to the inside or outside when mounted up against the side yolk flange? .. The caps also have an arrow embossed into them, again 'in' or 'out'. .. Thanks for any help on this.
Measure your required width(s) on the u-joints and then check Dennys Driveshafts (http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/) they list numerous different combination U-joints and usually give the sizes
