Ironic that I spent a few hours today searching the net for things like "how to check frame dimensions"... I think my front frame horns are bent to the driver's side. Hopefully the rest is ok. My plan was to put it on level floor up on stands, plumb bob, mark, and measure. If stuff isn't adding up I figure I'm doing it wrong or I need to take it to a shop. Just out of curiosity, and assuming things aren't too bad, what's a proper tweaking cost? $100? $1,000?

Well I have spent the last day calling around trying to get an estimate on having mine put back into specs and have been told prices anywhere from 500 to 1200 and some just said no thank you. Of course no one will give me a exact cost unless I bring it and they set it up on the machine so then I would be at there disposal at that point. I guess I'm going to have to take it to someone and just hope for the best. Although I did happen to find two different complete cars while doing some research the other. Night in the Carolina's both were 77s and complete one had sat out side for 10+ years and looked as if it has some water damage in the interior but didn't have great pictures and the other one was partly apart and someone stole a few parts off of it. Both under 1500 bucks

And you have no idea how good or bad the frames are on either of those cars. A 73 was a 1 yr only car. Before buying any other yr frame, make sure it will work. Me personally, I'd visit the frame shop. Unless you just plan on parting out the 73 and starting out all over.

Just out of curiosity, and I don't mean to hijack, if I want to do some measurements myself before taking the frame to a shop would you want to put the jack stands along the two sides in the middle and once you've assumed the floor is level, jack stands are same height, and both sides of frame in middle are parallel with floor you can start measurements? Or would you want to hold the frame somewhere closer to where the wheels are?

Does a frame have to be completely bare to be squared up on the rack or can it be a rolling chassis / sans engine?
