Default Need '69 side louver inserts refinishing advice

The (potmetal?) inserts on my '69 are looking their age. Are these things plated and/or just brushed from the factory? Just need some advice on how to make them look decent again.

Thanks,
Mike

they are chromed and argent silver painted to leave only chrome lip. Don't forget to paint unopened gill (closest to door) semigloss black to simulate an open hole to match other gills on fender

They are available in reproduction for around 76.00 (if you use the forum sale code) for a side. This is probably cheaper than plating the originals.

Now it makes sense. I was trying to figure out if the inserts had been "sandblasted" by road dirt because only the edges were shiny, and the large flat surface was dull (and dirty!) gray. Thanks!

I painted the fake vents right after I painted the car. It's one of my pet peeves seeing a 68 or 69 with body colored vents at the rear.
